Dr. Silvia Birklein
Dr. Silvia B. Birklein, PhD, MA, LCAT, ADTR, CMA, KMP, holds both a PhD in Clinical Psychology and an MA in General Psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York. Further, she holds an MA in Dance Therapy/Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School, and Bachelor degrees in Social Work and Psychology, and in Dance and Performing Arts from Berlin, Germany. Dr. Birklein is certified in both Laban and Kestenberg movement analysis.
She maintans a private practice for psychodynamic psychotherapy and supervision in New York. She also consults for TV shows. In addition, she is an assistant professor at Pace University, where she conducts research in nonverbal and affect-related behavior. Dr. Birklein is a candidate and fellow at the postdoctoral training program for psychoanalysis at NYU. She continues to teach and present nationally and internationally, linking movement and psychoanalysis.
