80 Washington Square East Galleries
Located in Greenwich Village and facing on to Washington Square, the street level Galleries are housed behind an historic red brick facade that began life in 1879 as a building called the Benedick. During the 1890's art reporters regularly toured its studios, and the painters Winslow Homer and Albert Pinkham Ryder were among its earliest studio residents.
80 Washington Square East was re-established in 1974 as a teaching gallery affiliated with NYU's Department of Art and Art Professions.
