Manhattan - Blaue Gans
Kurt Gutenbrunner transformed TriBeCa's Le Zinc into an Austrian restaurant within close proximity of beloved top-ranked Danube;
Serving Blutwurstgröstl, Kavalierspitz (broiled beef shoulder pieces with apple horseradish) and quark dumplings.
Full bar includes German and Austrian wines, four German draught beers, and several schnapps, liqueurs, and brandies.
European art and film posters line the walls, and handsome furnishings make for a very gemütlich (cozy) atmosphere. Service is impeccable, though relaxed, and servers are helpful in translating the German names of the dishes.
Try the smoked trout with cream sauce. Or a variety of pork dishes, served with crisp potatoes and red cabbage. Or a steaming hot goulash. And whether you left room for desserts, or not - Apfelstrudel and Sachertorte are a must.
