Leo Koenig Gallery

A SoHo gallery with works by German artists Torben Giehler, Jonathan Meese, Frank Nitsche, Erik Parker and Norbert Bisky.

Leo Koenig was born in New York City in 1977, but was raised in Munich, the son of Prof. Kasper Koenig, (one of Europe's foremost curators and director of the Ludwig Museum in Cologne) and Ilka Koenig, owner of Ilka Koenig Buchhandlung in Munich.

Growing up surrounded by art and artists, it seemed only natural that Koenig would open a gallery in 1999 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  Within a year, he presented promising young artists such as Aidas Bareikis and David Scher followed by, or in tandem with, established, historically significant artists such as Dara Birnbaum and Siah Amanjani. Before too long, he had established himself as an important newcomer to the New York Contemporary Art scene.
